BELAGAVI: On Monday, former chief minister Siddaramaiah and different Congress celebration leaders held a protest on the entrance of the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS) in Belagavi, opposing the set up of a portrait of Veer Savarkar contained in the meeting corridor. The protest occurred on the primary day of the 10-day winter session.
“I’m not towards placing up of anybody’s portrait. The authorities desires to divert the eye of the individuals from actual points like legislation & order. It shouldn’t be a protest, it’s our demand to place portraits of all nationwide leaders and social reformers (within the Karnataka meeting corridor). The speaker has unilaterally taken a choice to place up Veer Savarkar’s portrait within the meeting,” stated LoP in Karnataka meeting Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah in a letter to the Speaker requested for the set up of portraits of personalities like Valmiki, Basavanna, Kanaka Dasa, BR Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and others.
Karnataka Congress chief and MLA DK Shivakumar accused the state authorities of making an attempt to disrupt meeting proceedings by means of such steps.
“They need that our meeting proceedings mustn’t happen. They need it disrupted. They have introduced this photograph as a result of we’re going to increase numerous corruption points towards them. They haven’t any growth agenda,” Shivakumar stated.
Meanwhile, the BJP has hit out towards the Opposition protests. “There should be ideological variations however Savarkar is a freedom fighter, then ask Siddaramaiah, whose poster should be put, of Dawood Ibrahim?,” Union Minister Pralhad Joshi stated right now in Delhi outdoors the Parliament.
During the 10-day Winter Session of the Karnataka Assembly the border row with neighbouring Maharashtra is more likely to be introduced up.
